Oakland "Remember" picture/poem

When I was at Oakland I took pictures of letters for the word remember. Then when I got back I had to write a poem about this word. This poem was very creative and I took my time.

Remember

Look back
Remember

Oakland Cemetery

Oakland Cemetery

Today our class went to Oakland, the oldest cemetery in Georgia. There were many important people that helped started Atlanta.  This cemetery was really six acres when it opened in 1850 and now today it is 48 acres. They have a Jewish Section, an African American Section, Confederate Section, Potters Field, and the White Section. Our mayor Maynard Jackson was the first African American to be buried in the White section. Tomorrow we are going back to take pictures of our monument that we picked and we have to take 15 photos of that monument.
This trip was pretty good because I learned some of Atlanta's history. It was very cool to see Mayor Maynard Jackson's grave because at a time he was the mayor of Atlanta. We visited Margret Mitchell's grave and when she passed she was 49 years old. I saw the grave house of Austell.  I am from Austell, GA and I live in that city now. This was a good and long field trip but were are going to be there again tomorrow so maybe I will find something else to learn about.

Weekly Reflection - 9/7

This past week, we have been learning about the state of Georgia.  We learned about the 5 regions of Georgia and about Georgia’s rivers.  In music, we learned about different artists in Georgia and the kind of music they play.  We also learned about different angles you can use in photography to make your pictures better.  I think I did pretty good this week because I tried hard with all of my work.   My goal for next week is to go above and beyond with everything I do.

weekly reflection 9/5/12

Hi, my name is Chris and I am 13 years old, about to turn 14 in 5 days. This is my 6th year here at Howard and I like this school.  I might stay here for high school. I like playing basketball and my favorite team is Oklahoma City Thunder. My favorite player is Kevin Durant. My dad is in the military and he has been serving for 23 years.  This is his last year and then he will get out.  My mom has her own childcare center and she has had the center for 5 years.  School is good so far this year because I am in transition and I am more independent.
